Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced Welding & Quality Inspector to ensure all welding and fabrication work carried out in the heavyfabrication workshop conforms to approved welding procedures engineering drawings ITP requirements applicable codes/standards customer specifications and internal quality controls. The role includes functional leadership of welders grinders and other workshop personnel when required.

What Will You Do
• Verify job scope customer specifications and quality requirements.
• Confirm approved drawings WPS/WPQR and weldprocedure documentation.
• Ensure material certificates and traceability records.
• Perform inspections as required by the ITP.
• Verify welders qualifications and WPS compliance and keep record thereof.
• Conduct dimensional inspections during fabrication.
• Check welding consumables for handling and storage compliance.
• Perform visual weld inspections and surface preparation checks.
• Monitor NDT activities and liaise with NDE personnel. Conduct final inspections before release.
• Raise NCRs verify corrective actions and close out deviations.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and data packs.
• Verify calibration and suitability of welding equipment.
• Enforce safety and environmental compliance.
• Provide functional supervision of Welders Grinders and general workshop artisans as required.
• Support coordination of workshop labour allocation task prioritisation and productivity.
• Assist in overseeing entire workshop teams during periods of absence peak workload or operational need.

Your Experience Should Be...
• Artisan qualification (Boilermaker/Welder/Fitter & Turner).
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar position.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of welding processes.
• Understanding of NDT requirements.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• SAIW Welding Inspector Level 1 and 2.
• Experience in heavy fabrication.
• ISO 3834 exposure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional focus on accuracy and detail
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Leadership capability when supervising artisans.
