Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 10 / Matric (preferred).
• Relevant welding certification (SAW qualification highly advantageous).
• Minimum 35 years experience in submerged arc welding.
• Experience in heavy engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of submerged arc welding processes.
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Good hand-eye coordination and technical skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Problem-solving and fault-finding ability.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate submerged arc welding equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Prepare materials by cleaning, cutting, and aligning components.
• Perform welding on thick steel plates, pipes, or structural components.
• Monitor welding process parameters (voltage, current, speed, flux).
• Ensure weld quality meets required standards and specifications.
• Conduct visual inspections and assist with non-destructive testing (NDT) where required.
• Maintain welding equipment and report faults or breakdowns.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Complete job cards, production reports, and quality documentation.
