Constantly strive to achieve quality packaging on time and in full at an acceptable cost whilst considering the technical, commercial, legal and environmental aspects of packaging materials. Ensure functional packaging, in line with the development brief which is aligned to the WW brand across all products. Job description Develop a packaging sourcing and supplier strategy that aligns with the group product strategies. To interface with product suppliers, designers, product developers, packaging suppliers and printers in order to drive consumer focused packaging which is innovative and optimized Manage Critical Path and delivery of in packaging in product development cycle Developing cost effective, functional packaging on time and in full whilst ensuring optimum quality including supplier audits adherence Be part of in house artwork creation and approval process Assess and approve all digital and hard copy print proofs, printing, production and technical testing on all packaging to ensure compliance with quality standards Ensuring all pack labelling regulations and legislation are adhered to Evaluate current range and offer and make suggestions of how packaging can be improved, updated, including waste reduction in line with GBJ & Sustainability guidelines. Constantly communicate with the buyers with regards to progress and issues relating to packaging development and to ensure that new pack designs are technically viable Examine alternative packaging formats to deliver innovation and cost reductions, either in the form of constructional packaging or new technological advancements in materials, ink and, or printing techniques Resolving packaging quality and customer return issues on existing and new products including robust transit trial studies Attend factory feasibility and capability trials on new product development (NPD) where necessary. Minimum requirements 6 – 10 year’s packaging experience. Diploma/degree in packaging technology or related qualification Understanding of the South African Packaging industry. Practical packaging development experience in a retail, packaging manufacturing or FMCG environment and working knowledge of the different printing processes on various substrates from plastic, paper & board, glass and flexible packaging. A working knowledge off varied packaging materials, processes & formats Good understanding of packaging, printing and manufacturing processes Ability to understand and translate the design requirements into packaging Strong material knowledge and very good technical packaging knowledge Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and influencing ability Project Management skills Risk assessment and management skills Strong attention to detail Innovative and problem solving ability Quality and delivery orientation Excellent planning and organizational skills Ability to work on multiple projects at once Computer literacy
