Job Description
Our client, a major player in the supply chain and logistics industry, is seeking an experienced and proactive Logistics Operations Supervisor to manage and optimize operations within their bustling Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and timely flow of goods, managing warehouse activities, and leading a dedicated operational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of warehouse management systems, inventory control, and transportation coordination. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, implementing process improvements, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities include: Supervising daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, order picking, packing, and shipping. Managing and motivating a team of warehouse staff, ensuring productivity and adherence to performance standards. Implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations within the warehouse environment. Monitoring inventory levels and accuracy, conducting regular stock takes and investigating discrepancies. Optimizing warehouse layout and workflow to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. Coordinating with transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods. Utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software to track inventory and manage operations. Ensuring all goods are handled, stored, and dispatched in accordance with company procedures and client requirements. Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction. Training new employees and providing ongoing development for the warehouse team. Maintaining accurate records of all logistical activities and preparing operational reports. Troubleshooting and resolving operational issues as they arise, minimizing disruptions. Collaborating with other departments, such as procurement and sales, to ensure smooth supply chain integration. Ensuring the facility is kept clean, organized, and compliant with all relevant standards. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within logistics or warehousing. A strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and warehouse operations is essential. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are required. Experience with WMS software is a significant advantage. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to safety and efficiency are paramount.
