Southwest Construction is looking for a Welder's Helper/Equipment Tech to the team!

Purpose:

This person will help with the fabrication and welding work under the supervision of the lead fabricator on the company's small, medium, and heavy construction equipment, working on different tasks regularly using problem solving skills to reach a solution including maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, brake systems, electrical systems, computer-controlled components and much more.

Job Duties:
• This is an entry level position.
• Responsible for fabrication and repair of our modern high-tech fleet of medium and heavy construction equipment.
• Properly document repairs made.
• Willing to learn system knowledge of Cat, Case, Deutz, Volvo, John Deere, Isuzu engine components very helpful.
• Road test, inspect, and troubleshoot to assess condition and diagnose equipment.
• Work directly with the lead fabricator to troubleshoot, adjust, disassemble, and repair diesel engines, on fleet construction equipment (skid steers, excavators, boom lifts, sky tracks, scrubbers, loaders, and more).
• Enhance your welding skills, Tig, Stick, Mig.
• Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, replace, and rewire electrical system components, such as ignition, lights, and electrical controls, including computer-controlled components.
• Work in conjunction with other shop and jobsite personnel.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area is required.
• Must possess or obtain tools for work.
• Work 40+ hours per week.

Requirements:
• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience preferred
• Graduated or attending classes from an accredited technical school preferred
• One (1) year of experience in welding/maintenance and repair equipment preferred
• Valid driver license with good driving record
• ASE certification or accredited technical school helpful but not required
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
• Knowledge of materials, parts, tools, and basic principles to repair construction equipment
• Availability to work overtime including weekends if needed
