Schedule: 20 hours min. per week/ IN-PERSON/ Monday through Friday 1:30pm to 5:30pm

Job Type: Part Time

Department: Beacons/ Cornerstones

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/ Hourly

Reports To: Assistant Program Director, Program Director & Director of Community Based Initiatives

Pay Range: $17.50 to $18.50 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the program and site, including all staff, participants, and visitors. Security Guards must remain alert, focused, and aware of their surroundings at all times. This includes demonstrating vigilance, attention to detail, and the ability to retain and process information effectively in the event that a situation arises. All employees are expected to uphold and comply with all UAU standards.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
• Monitor and observe entrances and exits.
• Patrol and monitor assigned areas by walking around as needed to ensure proper and clear views.
• Collaborate with school/site personnel on a daily basis
• Follow daily procedures and routines to ensure that the site is secure and safety is maintained
• Prevent losses, theft and damages by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed/required
• Responsible for keeping accurate visitor logs and sign in and sign out sheets, in a organized manner.
• Effectively communicate any issues or problems that arise.
• Deescalate, detect and confront unauthorized persons and violators of security procedures.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Required: 18+ years of age
• Required: High School diploma or GED (Highschool Equivalency Diploma)
• Preferred, at least one year of experience in a daycare or school based setting/ environment
• Must be culturally competent – ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures and age ranges
• Must pass reference checks and background as designated by DOH, DOE, DYCD and UAU
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed
• Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 20% of the time.
• May include working prolonged periods of time standing and walking, about 95% of the day.
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet or more of the observer).
