About the Role

LOCATED IN BROOKLYN, NY: We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Packer to join our high volume commissary kitchen in Brooklyn. Working as part of the production team, you will be responsible for accurately portioning, assembling, and packaging prepared meals to meet strict weight, presentation, and food safety standards. This is a fast-paced role that requires focus, consistency, and a strong commitment to hygiene and quality throughout every shift.

Key Responsibilities
β€’ Portion and assemble prepared meal components accurately, following product specifications and recipe sheets
β€’ Pack finished meals into the correct containers, trays, or pouches to the required weight and fill standard
β€’ Apply labels correctly, checking that all information β€” including product name, ingredients, allergens, and use-by date β€” is accurate
β€’ Conduct visual quality checks on each unit, identifying and removing any product that does not meet standard
β€’ Operate packing equipment including sealing machines, label applicators, and checkweighers safely and efficiently
β€’ Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic packing station throughout the shift in line with HACCP guidelines
β€’ Adhere strictly to allergen control procedures, ensuring no cross-contamination between product lines
β€’ Monitor stock of packaging materials β€” trays, lids, labels, film β€” and flag shortages to the line supervisor
β€’ Record production quantities, weight checks, and any quality issues accurately on shift paperwork
β€’ Work at pace to meet daily production targets without compromising on accuracy or food safety
β€’ Follow correct FIFO procedures when handling chilled or ambient finished product
β€’ Support end-of-shift cleaning, line changeovers, and preparation for the next production run

Requirements
β€’ Previous experience in a packing, food production, or manufacturing environment preferred
β€’ High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly around weights, labelling, and allergen compliance
β€’ Ability to work at speed and maintain consistency over extended periods on a production line
β€’ Good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices (Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate preferred)
β€’ Ability to read and follow product specifications, weight guides, and work instructions
β€’ Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
β€’ Reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
β€’ A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to support colleagues across the production floor

Desirable
β€’ Experience working with checkweighers, tray sealers, or automated labelling equipment
β€’ Familiarity with allergen management in a packaged food or ready meal environment
β€’ Experience working to production targets and completing shift paperwork or quality logs
β€’ Basic understanding of HACCP principles and temperature control for chilled products
