Job Description
Job Summary

Sefton Steel is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Welder to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for welding assembling structural steel components according to engineering specifications, blueprints, and industry standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, follows safety procedures, and works well within a team-oriented shop environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform welding on structural steel components using processes such as FCAW, GMAW (MIG)
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
• Fit and assemble beams, columns, plates, and other structural members
• Ensure welds meet AWS, AISC, and company quality standards
• Operate fabrication tools and equipment (grinders, torches, saws, etc.)
• Conduct visual inspections of welds and correct defects as needed
• Follow all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and shop procedures
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Collaborate with supervisors, fitters, and other welders to meet production schedules

Required Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Structural Steel Welder in a fabrication or industrial setting
• Proficiency in structural welding processes (FCAW, MIG, Stick)
• Ability to pass a welding test per company or AWS requirements
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication methods
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a shop environment

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a high-production steel fabrication shop
• Rigging or fitting experience

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Lift up to 50 lbs or more with assistance
• Bend, crouch, climb, and work in various positions
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
