The Ministry of Labour sets the minimum wage at 400 THB per day for skilled welders in Bangkok province effective January 2026. Overtime must be paid at 1.5 times the rate for hours beyond 8 per day under the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2562. Employers in the manufacturing sector must display this rate visibly at the workplace.

Foreign welders require a work permit issued by the Ministry of Labour before starting employment, with the standard fee of 3,000 THB for permits valid up to 1 year. Applications must be submitted with a job offer letter and passport within 7 days of arrival under the Foreigners' Working Management Emergency Decree B.E. 2560. No permit is needed for Thai nationals.

Welders must hold at least a vocational certificate in welding from an accredited institute plus 1 year of documented experience for standard factory roles. The Ministry of Labour requires proof of skill certification for hazardous welding tasks under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. No university degree is mandated.

Applicants must submit a national ID card or passport, vocational certificate, medical certificate, and resume to the employer for Ministry of Labour registration. The process requires signing a written employment contract within 15 days of hiring under Section 17 of the Labour Protection Act. Online submission via the e-Work Permit system is mandatory for foreigners.
