The Ministry of Manpower requires a minimum fixed monthly salary of SGD 2,250 for Work Permit holders employed in food services roles from 1 January 2026. Overtime must be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours worked beyond 44 per week. Employers must also contribute to CPF for Singaporean and PR staff at 20% employee and 17% employer rates.

Foreigners must hold a valid Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Manpower for restaurant positions such as kitchen assistants or service crew. Applications require the employer to be registered and the worker to pass a medical examination within 14 days of arrival. The permit is valid for up to 2 years and tied to the specific employer.

No formal education qualification is mandated by the Ministry of Manpower for Work Permit holders in food services. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have no criminal record. Prior F&B experience is assessed directly by the employer during hiring.

The Ministry of Manpower requires a valid passport, completed medical report from an approved clinic, and passport-sized photos for Work Permit applications in 2026. Employers must submit the application online within 14 days of the worker's arrival and provide the original permit upon approval.
