The security guard plays a vital role in protecting the site and ensuring the safety of individuals and assets within it. Their duties encompass a range of essential tasks that require meticulous attention and swift action to address any emergency.
• Site monitoring and security: The security guard must conduct regular patrols or utilize camera systems to monitor the site. Upon observing any unusual activity, they must take the necessary actions, whether by investigating the situation or notifying supervisors if immediate intervention is required. They can also intervene directly when necessary to prevent any security breaches.
• Entrance and exit inspection: The security guard contributes to controlling access to the site by verifying the identity of all visitors and ensuring they possess the required credentials. Their role necessitates vigilance when inspecting bags or visitor belongings as needed to prevent the entry of any unauthorized or dangerous materials onto the site.
• Emergency Preparedness: Security guards are required to be fully prepared to respond to emergencies such as fires, earthquakes, or the need for rapid medical assistance. They must be familiar with emergency exits, organize the safe evacuation of individuals, and coordinate with emergency teams, such as fire and ambulance crews, to ensure the safety of the site and everyone within it.
• Incident Recording and Security Observations: Recording and documenting incidents is an essential part of a security guard's job. This helps provide accurate information that contributes to event analysis and facilitates investigations into security breaches. Each incident is recorded with complete details to ensure easy retrieval when needed.
• Courteous Interaction with Visitors and Clients: Security guards must be courteous and able to assist and guide visitors effectively, whether by directing them to the required departments or answering their inquiries respectfully. This contributes to creating a positive impression of the work environment.
• Regular Inspection: Security guards are required to conduct regular inspections to ensure the absence of hazards or dangerous materials and to verify that all entrances are locked to prevent unauthorized access.
