Job Title: Welder & Fabricator
Department: Production / Maintenance
Location: Manufacturing Plant
Reporting To: Production Manager / Maintenance Head

Job Summary

The Welder & Fabricator is responsible for carrying out welding and fabrication work required for production and maintenance activities in the Rotational Moulding Plant. The role includes manufacturing and repairing metal frames, trolleys, mould support structures, machine guards, and other fabricated components, as well as performing minor maintenance on plant machinery to ensure smooth production operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesWelding & Fabrication
• Perform MIG, ARC, welding as per production and maintenance requirements.
• Fabricate MS, SS, and other metal structures as per engineering drawings or instructions.
• Manufacture and repair mould frames, support frames, jigs, fixtures, pallets, trolleys, racks, and machine accessories.
• Cut, bend, grind, drill, and assemble metal components accurately.
• Ensure weld quality and proper finishing of fabricated items.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy and structural integrity of fabricated parts.

Machine Maintenance
• Carry out minor maintenance and repair work on production machines.
• Repair broken machine parts, guards, brackets, supports, and structural components.
• Assist the maintenance team during machine breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
• Replace damaged mechanical components when required.
• Identify potential mechanical issues and report them to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Production Support
• Fabricate custom tools and fixtures to improve productivity.
• Support machine installation, relocation, and modification activities.
• Assist in emergency repair work to minimize production downtime.

Safety & Housekeeping
• Follow all safety procedures while performing welding and fabrication work.
• Use appropriate PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, and eye protection.
• Maintain cleanliness of the welding area and ensure proper storage of tools and materials.
• Follow 5S and company safety standards.

Skills & Competencies
• Knowledge of welding processes.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and measurements.
• Proficient in cutting, grinding, drilling, and metal fabrication.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to use welding machines, grinders, cutting machines, drills, and measuring instruments.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure during breakdowns.

Qualifications
• ITI in Welder/Fitter/Fabricator or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
• Certification in welding is an added advantage.

Experience
• 1–4 years of experience in welding and fabrication in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a Rotational Moulding, Plastic, Fabrication, or Engineering industry will be preferred.
