ITI Technician – Operation & Maintenance (Pumping Station)

Location:

Mumbai

Experience Required:

Minimum 5 years in operation and maintenance of pumping stations / water / wastewater / storm water / industrial pumping systems

Qualification:

ITI in Electrician / Wireman / Fitter / Pump Mechanic / Maintenance Technician / Diesel Mechanic
Additional certifications in electrical safety / panel operation / motor maintenance / DG operation will be preferred

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ITI Technician for operation, monitoring, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of storm water pumping station equipment in Mumbai. The candidate should have hands-on experience in handling pumps, motors, valves, panels, DG sets, HT/LT systems, dewatering systems, and routine station upkeep to ensure uninterrupted operation, especially during monsoon emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operation of Pumping Station

Operate and monitor storm water / dewatering / sewage / drainage pumps as per shift requirements
Start, stop, and changeover pumps, motors, and auxiliaries as per SOP
Monitor pump performance, pressure, discharge, vibration, noise, temperature, and current load
Ensure smooth operation during heavy rainfall / emergency flooding conditions

2. Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance

Carry out routine preventive maintenance of:

Pumps
Electric motors
Bearings
Couplings
Valves / sluice gates / flap gates
Pipelines and fittings
LT panels / starters / MCC panels
Soft starters / VFD (if installed)
DG sets and fuel systems

Attend breakdown maintenance and restore equipment at the earliest
Check and tighten cable terminations, glands, earthing, and panel connections
Assist in dismantling, alignment, reassembly, greasing, oiling, and replacement of worn parts

3. Inspection & Monitoring

Conduct regular inspection rounds of complete pumping station equipment
Maintain log of:

Running hours
Voltage / current readings
Pump discharge status
DG operation hours
Fuel levels
Breakdown observations
Water levels / sump levels

Identify abnormalities and report immediately to Plant Incharge / Supervisor

4. Emergency / Monsoon Duty

Remain available for 24x7 shift / emergency monsoon deployment
Attend urgent failures during high rainfall and flooding situations
Support quick restoration of pumping station during critical hours
Coordinate with site incharge for uninterrupted dewatering / drainage operation

5. Housekeeping & Safety

Ensure good housekeeping of pump house, panel room, DG area, and control room
Follow safety procedures while working on electrical and rotating equipment
Use proper PPE during operation and maintenance work
Ensure no oil leakage, cable damage, unsafe wiring, or water ingress in panels
Maintain tools, tackles, spares, and consumables properly

6. Record Keeping

Maintain daily shift reports and maintenance checklists
Record preventive maintenance activities and breakdown reports
Maintain stock record of basic consumables and spares such as:

Grease
Lubricants
Gaskets
Fasteners
Cable lugs
Fuses / MCB / contactors (where applicable)
