As per the Ministry of Labour & Employment, the minimum wage for electricians in India is ₹21,000 per month for skilled workers in central sphere establishments as of 1 January 2026. Overtime must be paid at double the ordinary rate for hours beyond 8 per day. This rate applies to workers engaged in electrical installation and maintenance under the Minimum Wages Act.

As per the Ministry of Labour & Employment, candidates must hold an ITI certificate in Electrician trade or a 3-year diploma in electrical engineering plus 2 years of relevant experience for government-registered roles as of 2026. Apprenticeship completion under NAPS is mandatory for those under 25 years. No experience is needed for entry-level helper positions but certification is compulsory.

As per the Ministry of Labour & Employment, applicants need Aadhaar card, ITI certificate, caste certificate if applicable, and bank passbook for wage payments under NCS portal registration as of 2026. Police verification certificate is mandatory for industrial electrician roles. Applications must be submitted online via NCS with PAN linked to Aadhaar.

As per the Ministry of Labour & Employment, electricians work 8 hours per day and 48 hours per week with a weekly off on Sunday under the Factories Act as of 2026. They are entitled to 12 days of casual leave, 15 days of earned leave after 240 days of service, and 7 days of sick leave annually. Night shift allowances are fixed at ₹150 per shift.
