As per the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the minimum wage for cleaning staff in Bahrain is 150 BHD per month as of January 2026 for Bahraini nationals in private sector roles. Expatriate cleaners under the sponsorship system receive a contractual minimum of 120 BHD monthly plus overtime at 1.25 times the hourly rate for hours beyond 8 per day.

Expatriate cleaning staff must obtain a work permit through the Labour Market Regulatory Authority before arrival, with the employer sponsoring a 2-year renewable visa. The permit fee is 100 BHD for the first year and requires a valid medical fitness certificate issued after arrival in Bahrain.

No formal education certificate is required for cleaning staff positions in Bahrain as of 2026. Applicants need at least 6 months of prior cleaning experience verified by previous employer references and must be between 21 and 50 years old at the time of application.

Required documents include a valid passport, recent passport-size photos, a police clearance certificate issued within the last 3 months, and a medical report from an approved center. Applications must be submitted online via the LMRA portal with employer sponsorship letter before travel.
