Job Description
Please note that this role will be under a third-party contractor and is not a direct hire with EGA.

JOB PURPOSE:
β€’ To perform welding operations on various weld joints in all required positions, ensuring high-quality, defect-free welds that meet project specifications and standards.
β€’ To work with Pot Lining Technicians / Operators during cell lining department routine activities particularly pot shell structural repair & superstructure overhauling, live bus bar welding in pot lines and replacement of eroded / damaged cathode flexible during pot turnaround activities under close supervision.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
β€’ Perform welding tasks using ARC & MIG welding processes (SMAW, FCAW & GMAW) in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
β€’ Capable to perform welding in high temperature areas and in strong magnetic field of pot lines.
β€’ Ensure welds meet quality standards and are free from defects such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion.
β€’ Perform Gas cutting task, carbon arc gauging and thermal lancing activities.
β€’ Ability to identify industrial tools, welding equipment and carry out pre-operational check prior to use.
β€’ Strictly adhere to EHS safety protocols, company policies and wear required PPEs.
β€’ Maintain all the required equipment, welding machine and tools in good working condition and ensure readily available at work location.
β€’ Must be aware of basic 5S concept and able to identify and correct hazards to provide safe workplace.
β€’ Ensure good housekeeping is maintained at work place all the time and debris are disposed properly in designated skips.
β€’ Seek advice from shift in charge / supervisor about job safety and participate in daily toolbox talk.
β€’ Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:
β€’ Mandatory qualification and hands-on experience in both ARC & MIG welding processes:
β€’ FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding)
β€’ GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
β€’ SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc welding)

Skills:
β€’ Proven experience in industrial or construction welding projects.
β€’ Ability to read and interpret Welding Procedure Specification, welding symbols and basic technical drawings.
β€’ Welders Performance Qualification Certificates will be considered an added advantage.
β€’ Must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English.
β€’ Able to identify industrial tools and equipment by names and their safe usage.

Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a welder in industry.
