As per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the minimum salary for carpenters holding skilled work permits in the UAE is AED 4,000 per month as of 1 January 2026, with overtime paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily. Employers must deposit this amount into a UAE bank account registered with the Wages Protection System.

Foreign carpenters must obtain a work permit and residence visa through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation before starting employment, with the permit valid for 2 years and renewable. The employer sponsors the visa, and applicants require a valid passport, medical fitness certificate from an approved UAE center, and Emirates ID application within 60 days of arrival.

Carpenters need at least 2 years of verified experience in the trade plus a secondary school certificate or equivalent vocational training certificate recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation as of 2026. No university degree is mandatory, but a trade test certificate from a government-approved institute increases approval chances for the work permit.

Applicants must submit a passport copy valid for at least 6 months, 4 passport-size photos, educational and experience certificates attested by the UAE embassy in the home country, and a contract signed by the employer registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation by 2026. The full application is processed online via the MOHRE portal within 5 working days.
