The route from Vakkom to Shimla covers nearly 3000 km. You must travel to Thiruvananthapuram to board trains heading towards the north, then take a connecting train or bus to reach the hill station of Shimla. The journey takes you through the entire length of India, from the southern coast to the foothills of the Himalayas. Expect a travel time of 60 to 65 hours by train and road. This is a major transit route connecting the southern tip of India to the capital of Himachal Pradesh.
