Gaya, a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus, is located about 250 km from Barakar. The most efficient way to reach is by train from Asansol Junction, which takes about 4 to 5 hours. By road, the journey follows NH 19 and NH 22. Gaya is famous for the Mahabodhi Temple in nearby Bodh Gaya, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.
